What are your current job responsibilities?
Responsible for generating and driving new business through outside sales for direct hire, and contract temporary staffing for HR, Sales/Marketing, Accounting/Finance/IT and Administrative office support positions. This includes: cold calling, lead generation, business development, client facing, networking, and negotiating contracts and rates.
Why did you choose HR as your field?
I went into a staffing agency, Emerson Group at the age of 21 to find a job and ended up getting hired there for help place people in jobs. I found that I was very passionate about helping people with their careers. That’s how I got started in Human Resources.
What is your current job or role?
I am Director of Business Development for the Philadelphia office of Emerson Group
In your current job, what gives you the greatest sense of reward and accomplishment?
My greatest reward is to help people connect with employers and with other people that might help them further their careers and become successful. It’s great to see people flourish in their careers.
What is your greatest personal or professional accomplishment?
My greatest professional accomplishment is helping Emerson Group establish and open the company’s Philadelphia office. It’s great to build something from the ground up and have it succeed. I love being a part of Emerson’s team. Their mission is my life’s mission, helping people become successful.
What words of wisdom would you offer to someone entering the HR field?
Be dedicated to what you do and always reach out to people as you try to help them further their careers. Make good contacts through networking and maintain good relationships with people through the industry. If you are willing to work hard and put in the extra time, you will be successful in this field.
What have you found most valuable about being a member of PSHRM?
I have grown my network, I’ve grown professionally. The friendships I have formed will almost certainly last a long time.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like to travel, go to BYOB’s, read, bike ride and go to the beach. I also like to spend time with my family, especially my kids and my grandchildren.
If given an opportunity to do something really extraordinary or adventurous, what would it be and why?
I would love to take 3 months on a boat with my husband, children and grandchildren. For the adventure and having time together.View More Members
