For a variety of reasons, more and more leaders are managing employees that are remote. While managing remotely can offer many benefits to business as well as to employees, managers of remote employees are faced with a new set of challenges they did not have when managing face-to-face. This webinar explores some of the unique challenges remote leaders face and discusses strategies that can be used to manage performance, develop teams and individuals, communicate more effectively and maintain employee engagement.

EJ Johnson, Ph. D., Unique Leadership, LLC
EJ is President of Unique Leadership LLC, a Leadership Development organization dedicated to helping leaders realize their fullest potential while retaining their authenticity and unique individuality. EJ is a Sherpa Certified Executive Coach that has coached and advised senior leaders for over twenty years in companies ranging from small start-ups to global corporations in Financial Services, Technology, Healthcare, Media and Wellness. EJ has led Organizational Development and Talent Management activities in Fortune 500 companies like First USA Bank (now Chase), Unisys, IMS Health and AmerisourceBergen (ABC), a 100-Billion-dollar company with 17,000 employees. At ABC EJ was responsible for enterprise leadership development, career management and mentoring and designed and implemented the company’s first enterprise recognition program.
EJ has a strong background in leadership development, mentoring, Diversity & Inclusion, and is certified in MBTI and a number of 360 and leadership assessment instruments. EJ also was an adjunct instructor for six years at several Philadelphia area colleges where he taught courses in Performance Management, Training & Presentation Skills, Team Dynamics and Diversity & Inclusion. EJ received his BS in Psychology from The College of NJ, his MS in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and his Ph.D. from Capella University.
EJ makes his home in the Philadelphia, PA area with his wife and two children. EJ’s family enjoys skiing, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, horseback riding and golf. EJ is also actively engaged in the Horsham, PA Little League and has been head coach and assistant coach for a number of recreational and travel fast-pitch softball and baseball teams.
KimberlyAnn Huegel, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, The Vanguard Group
Kim is a Human Resources Manager in a Global Shared Services organization at The Vanguard Group. She currently oversees the multi-site (PA, AZ, & NC) Talent Management & Event Logistics Team, responsible for all domestic recruiting operations and HR sponsored events. Kim has been with Vanguard for 19 years, spending the last ten years managing teams in Leadership Development and HR Data & Reporting and also managed the strategic development and implementation of Vanguard’s Performance Management program.
Kim has extensive people leadership, HR, and business knowledge coupled with creative ideas for designing and implementing new processes and training with a solid history of success. She has strong operational leadership and planning skills, combined with the ability to coordinate the efforts of many to meet organizational goals. Prior to her time in HR, Kim was a leader in Vanguard’s Marketing and Retail investor organizations.
Kim has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Performance Management from Immaculata University, served on the PSHRM Symposium planning committee from 2012-2014 when she was elected to the PSHRM Board as the Director of Day Programming Events.
Kim enjoys spending time with her husband Patrick and their two children Toni and Michael, is a devoted “Swim & Theatre Mom” and also serves as the Vice President of the Springfield Country Club Swim team.
